Anchorage Film Festival
Date:
Anchorage is a small to medium-sized city crouching on the edge of the howling Alaskan wilderness, surrounded by mountains and edged by a frigid and restless sea. It’s far away from Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, and people up here are proud of the fact they do things a little differently from the rest of the world. Independence has always been regarded as an asset and that quality remains a common character trait, even today. The Anchorage Film Festival is going into its third year, and in our call for entries the founders would like to invite you to participate in a festival that is unlike any other. The enthusiasm, sophistication and passion of our audiences will surprise you, the integrity of our judging process is second to none, yet, it is still possible for your film to stand out as, admittedly, we are not overwhelmed by the quantity of entries that must besiege the larger festivals. Besides, up here in the winter, we really don't have that much to do, so immersing ourselves in the selection process and gorging on the vibrant visions of filmmakers is actually a guilty pleasure for us. We urge you to submit your films and join the other independent filmmakers who have been pleasantly surprised by this so-called sleepy little city by the sea. Winter solstice will prove to be another hot time in the cold town of Anchorage, Alaska.

Today the twice-a-year CINDY Awards are proudly presented by the International Association of Audio Visual Communicators (IAAVC), a non-profit group representing theatrical, broadcast, non-broadcast, and interactive media professionals throughout the world.
As the market for industrial films has evolved into video and other media formats over the years, CINDY has changed dramatically. International Student Film Festival
Larry Nimmer, Director of the International Student Film Festival.
Videos can be of any subject matter. However, this year, we are particularly looking for “Day in the Life” videos. These are videos where students document an average day in their life. The videos don’t necessarily have to be professional looking. Truthful documentations of different cultures and lifestyles are of interest to our audience. A clip from all videos will appear on our web site where you can also see last year’s videos. We’re at www.StudentFilmFestival.org.

Sundance Film Festival
The Sundance Institute adopted sponsorship of the United States Film Festival in 1984, creating an internationally recognized showcase for new independent cinema. In 1985, responding to the need for support from an organization that could provide year-round programming, administrative staffing, financial backing, and a network of contacts, the Film Festival became part of the Sundance Institute and added international films to its program. Officially renamed in 1991, the Sundance Film Festival is now recognized internationally as a showcase for the best in new American independent film. The Film Festival has expanded from 15,750 seats sold in 1985 to more than 142.000 in 2001. For the 2001 Film Festival, 390 documentaries, 854 dramatic features, 515 international films, and 2,174 short films were submitted, from which 112 feature-length films and 64 shorts were selected for exhibition to an audience of more than 20,000. The number of films submitted continues to increase each year.

Telly Awards
The Annual Telly Awards was founded in 1980, to showcase and give recognition to outstanding non-network and cable commercials. The competition was expanded several years ago to include film and video productions. When the concept for the Tellys was born, David E. Carter was chosen to be the show administrator. He has published over 90 books on advertising and logos. This, combined with his strong TV background, (Clio winner,7-time Emmy winner who produced many sketches for the Johnny Carson show) made him a natural choice to administer the competition. Over the past 22 years, the Telly Awards has become a well-known, highly respected national competition.
